The company said little about this highly-anticipated feature

Microsoft has already confirmed that the Start button will make its comeback in Windows 8.1, but the company doesn’t seem to be too excited about this particular feature. At least, not as much as its users.

The company revealed more details about the Start button at the Computex 2013, but instead of describing the upcoming option in detail, it actually said only little about it.

The thing Microsoft tries to reiterate with every single occasion is that Windows 8.1 was designed from the very beginning to be a more familiar working environment, so the return of the Start button is supposed to help it in this regard.

Antoine LeBlond, a Microsoft Windows engineer, took the stage at Computex 2013 to present the new Windows 8.1 and reveal some of the new features to be made available to users.

As far as the Start button is concerned, nothing new here: this feature was implemented to make Windows more intuitive and help users quickly access the Start screen.

"We've done some work in Windows 8.1 to make it a better experience. The first thing you'll notice here on the desktop is down at the bottom left, the start tip is actually down there on the task bar, and it stays there at all times. So this actually provides just a familiar landmark that people are used to," LeBlond said in his keynote.

"People are used to actually having a control down there that they can go to and actually navigate the start. So just leaving it there is actually a really nice and easy different thing for us to do."

Users, on the other hand, seem to be a bit disappointed with the new Start button, especially because it will get them to the Start screen instead of launching a Start button.

As a result, third-party Start Menu apps seem to remain their only hope for the time being.
