Windows 8.1 indeed comes with several changes for both the Modern UI and the desktop side of the operating system, so Microsoft uses every single occasion to talk big about its latest product.

This time, Microsoft brought the new desktop options and updates in the spotlight, claiming that all these improvements “are great for enthusiasts.”

Microsoft’s Gavin Gear then goes on to discuss some of these enhancements, including the all apps view, the desktop wallpaper on the Start screen, and the boot to desktop option.

“In Windows 8.1 you can use your desktop wallpaper as your Start screen background. I am liking this feature because it looks cool and adds a layer of continuity when transitioning between the desktop and Start screen. This setting is exposed on the ‘navigation’ tab on the taskbar properties dialog,” he wrote.

Of course, Microsoft uses all these improvements as living proof that it listens to customer feedback, as some of the new options have been implemented following an avalanche of criticism aimed at Windows 8.
