Microsoft today released a new version of Sysinternals Suite, its own collection of apps designed to help IT administrators diagnose and troubleshoot Windows applications and services.

Just like all the other updates released for this app, Sysinternals Suite 1.0 Build 29.01.2014 comes with several bug fixes for the built-in module, but also with a major new feature for Process Explorer.

This particular tool allows you to get detailed information about a particular process, including memory figures, security settings, user permissions, and many others. But starting today, it also comes with VirusTotal integration, which means that it can perform online anti-virus scanning automatically.

The official release notes that were published today indicate that Microsoft worked together with VirusTotal to make this possible in order to block all potential threats from reaching your computer.

“Thanks to collaboration with the team at VirusTotal, this Process Explorer update introduces integration with VirusTotal.com, an online antivirus analysis service,” the provided release notes explain.

“When enabled, Process Explorer sends the hashes of images and files shown in the process and DLL views to VirusTotal and if they have been previously scanned, reports how many antivirus engines identified them as possibly malicious. Hyperlinked results take you to VirusTotal.com report pages and you can even submit files for scanning.”

Sysinternals Suite 1.0 Build 29.01.2014 provides support for all Windows versions on the market, starting with the old Windows XP and ending with the newly-launched Windows 8.1. Both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows are supported, so no problems should be experienced.

Microsoft purchased Winternals in 2006 and is now offering Sysinternals either as a separate download for all built-in modules or as a single package that comprises all available tools.

Of courses, this collection of apps can come in handy to many users out there, so download Sysinternals Suite 1.0 Build 29.01.2014 right now to see what it’s up to.
