Here's your chance to move into the office of Microsoft Chairman and Co-Founder Bill Gates. All you have to do is buy Microsoft's headquarters. The catch? Well there is one actually, except that Microsoft does not have a single headquarter, historically speaking. The largest software company in the world, traditionally associated with its Redmond campus in Washington, has in fact begun its journey in Albuquerque, New Mexico. And it is the original headquarters of Microsoft from Albuquerque that are up for sale for the hefty price of $82,950.

"Own a piece of history, the original building where Bill Gates and Paul Allen formed Microsoft is now For Sale. Property offers a variety of floor plans for retail, office or warehouse uses. Condominium Association rules apply. Value priced and centrally located to NE and SE Heights and New Mexico State Fair grounds (EXPO New Mexico)", reads the overview of the property provided by Keith Meyer from Maestas & Ward Commercial RE, via Neowin.

Back in 1975 Bill Gates and Paul Allen, founded Microsoft after the introduction of Altair 8800 computer from Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS). MITS subsequently agreed to distribute Altair BASIC developed by Microsoft. The reason why Microsoft was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico is quite simple and it has everything to do with the location of MITS.

It was only on January 1, 1979, that Microsoft moved to Bellevue, Washington. But it will take the company another seven years to change its location to the current Redmond campus. At this time, Microsoft owns no less than 8,360,803 square feet of office space in the Puget Sound area. This you will not be able to buy as easily. From Albuquerque (1975) to Redmond (2007), Microsoft has grown from Altair BASIC to Windows Vista, and reported a revenue of $51.12 billion for the past fiscal year ending June 30, 2007.
