Advanced semiconductor solutions provider Micron has launched the industry’s first Serial NOR Flash interface with a replay-protected monotonic counter (RPMC) feature.

The interface meets the security requirements of ultrathin applications and has been validated for upcoming Intel Ultrabook platforms.

What’s special about this RPMC feature is that it significantly enhances pre-boot security, making devices more resistant to replay and rollback attacks.

The solution allows OEMs to deliver more secure systems and strengthen code and data storage in the boot memory.

“This first-to-market RPMC feature, developed by Micron for our SPI NOR device, is an additional demonstration of our commitment to continuously meet application requirements and customer needs,” commented Jeff Bader, vice president of Micron's Embedded Solutions Marketing.

“Our NOR Flash excellence, coupled with the leadership and expertise of Intel, make this device the best-in-class solution for the Intel Ultrabook and other future Intel-based platforms.”

Additional details on Micron’s ultrathin solutions are available on the company’s website.
