Indian consumers looking to purchase a tablet have a brand new offer to check out. Micromax just unveiled its flagship tablet called Canvas Tab P650.

NDTV.com explains that the company has previously outed a line of Funbook tablets, but this is the first slate to appear under the Canvas moniker.

Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma shows a lot of faith in the new device, claiming that “the Canvas Tab will strengthen our leadership in the tablet PC market complemented with a 360 degree go to market strategy to reach our consumers.”

In terms of specs, customers shouldn't expect a power horse, as the Canvas Tab offers middle-range functionalities. The slate is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor plus 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Users can choose to upgrade to 32GB via the microSD card.

Micromax has added some intriguing features in order to attract buyers like multiple video look, look away pause and video pinning. More than that, the tablet can be used to call up friends and family.

The device will come shipping with Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean pre-installed on it – upgradable via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). It also packs a rear 5 megapixel auto focus camera and a front 2-megapixel fixed-focus one.

Micromax offers a set of pre-loaded apps like Opera, Spuul, Kingsoft Office, M!Live and M!Security. The 4800 mAh battery will probably provide up to 5 hours of active browsing and it will most likely last longer if the Wi-Fi is turned off.

The Canvas Tab features an attractive design with its sleek full aluminum body and can be ordered in two different colors – white and blue. Starting September 18, the Canvas Tab P650 will be available for purchase through leading retail locations across India for the price of Rs 16,500 / $266 / €197,5. Take it while it's hot!
