Indian handset manufacturer Micromax has just announced the upcoming availability of a new budget-friendly Android device in India, the Superfone A84 Elite.

According to Micromax, the smartphone will be available for a suggested retail price of Rs 9,999 (180 USD or 145 EUR). Customers who are looking to purchase their first Android phone may want to take into consideration the Superfone A84 Elite.

As expected, the handset will be available for purchase through all leading retailers across the country, though Micromax has yet to reveal the phone's exact release date.

The Superfone A84 Elite is part of a larger family of cheap Android phones launched by Micromax this year, such as the Superfone Ninja2 A56, Superfone Infinity A80 and Superfone Punk A45.

When it comes to hardware, Micromax Superfone A84 Elite can be positioned in the mid-range category. The smartphone comes equipped with a single-core processor clocked at 1 GHz and 512MB of RAM.

Furthermore, the Superfone A84 Elite packs a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with LED flash and autofocus, as well as video recording.

As we already mentioned, the smartphone is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system, and it will probably be stuck on this version of Android.

When it comes to connectivity, Micromax Superfone A84 Elite is an all-rounder. The smartphone comes with GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, as well as 3G connectivity options.

It is also worth mentioning that the device sports a decent 4.0-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. There's no mention on storage, but Micromax confirms the phone comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Last but not least, Micromax Superfone A84 Elite's 1630 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 160 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.
