Indian handset maker Micromax has just announced the immediate availability of the A25 Smarty smartphone. The dual-SIM device can be purchased through some leading retailers across the country, though not all have picked the Micromax Smarty A25 yet.

According to Micromax, the Smarty A25 should be out on the market for a suggested retail price of Rs 4,999 (90 USD or 70 EUR). However, Indian retailer Saholic currently offers the smartphone for only Rs 3,999 (70 USD or 55 EUR) off-contract. Check it out here.

Customers should know that Saholic also throws in free shipping and that they can pay by cash on delivery. The retailer also states all orders should be received in about 3 business days.

When it comes to specs, Micromax Smarty 25 is far from being impressive, as the phone has been especially designed for the low-budget market.

Aside from the fact that it’s one of the cheapest Android phones available in India, the Smarty A25 comes with dual-SIM capability and offers lots of pre-loaded apps and services, including Chrome Mini browser and Google Maps.

On the inside, the phone packs a 1 GHz single-core processor, which is complemented by 256 MB of RAM and 512MB storage, but only 120MB available to users.

It is also worth mentioning that internal memory can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone does not come with 3G support, which means both SIM cards will work on EDGE networks. The 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 262k colors. There’s also a sub-par 1.3-megapixel camera on the back, which features fixed focus.

Last but not least, Micromax Smarty A25 is powered by Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system and is likely to stay on this version of Android due to its low hardware configuration.
