Micromax has just announced the upcoming availability of another cheap phablet powered by Google’s Android platform, the Canvas XL A119.

According to fonearena, the smartphone will be exclusively available in India via HomeShop18 retailer beginning January 19. Potential customers should know that Micromax Canvas XL A119 will be available for purchase for only Rs 13,990 ($225 / €165) off contract.

It is also worth mentioning that the phablet will only be available in white color options, but HomeShop18 is expected to offer some freebies worth Rs 6,498 ($105 / €77).

The huge phablet offers dual-SIM support, as usual, and ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Micromax may offer an upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.3 or maybe KitKat, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Aside from the affordable price, the Canvas XL A119’s strong point is the large 6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, which is probably provided by MediaTek. It also packs 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

As the name suggests, Micromax Canvas XL A119 is a big phone. It measures 165 x 84.2 x 10.4mm and weighs no less than 180 grams (battery included).

On the back, the phablet boasts an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED Flash, autofocus and video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera.

Other highlights of the phone include: 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio with recording function.

Last but not least, Micromax Canvas XL A119 is powered by a 2450 mAh battery that should provide up to 9.5 hours of talk time.
