Always on the lookout to expand its seemingly never-ending tablet portfolio, popular Indian brand, Micromax has released two new models, in the form of the Canvas Tab P650E and Funbook Ultra HD P580.

Right off the bat, we should tell you the two models support voice-calling features and are already available in the company’s online store.

The Canvas Tab sells for Rs. 8,999 / $149 / €108 while the FunBook Ultra is a little bit more expensive, running for Rs. 11,990 / $199 / €144. If you order now, expect the devices to be shipped out to you in 7 to 10 business days.

Now let’s see what the two newcomers offer. The Micromax Canvas Tab is actually a CDMA variant of the company’s first flagship model, the Canvas P650. This new version bundles single SIM functionality and offers support for the CDMA network.

It comes with a 7-inch display and the quite unsatisfying resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. So, from the get go, you can notice the tablet doesn't bundle anything mind-blowing. Moreover, its life comes from a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz or RAM and combined with 512MB of RAM.

Other specifications you need to know about include a 2MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera and 4GB of inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB).

According to the official listing, the Canvas Tab has a 3000 mAh battery, capable of delivering up to 220 hours of standby and 11 hours of talk time. You might find this laughable, but the operating system is the incredibly outdated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Moving on to the FunBook Ultra, this is a slightly better tablet, running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. It arrives with a 7.85-inch IPS HD display and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Micromax has upped things in the processor department and has added a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK8389 processor combined with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.

Like with the previous model, there are two cameras to be taken advantage of (a 5MP one on the back and a 2MP frontal snapper). The Funbook Ultra tablet comes with SIM support and offers 3G functionality too. Furthermore, Bluetooth, FM radio, GPS/A-GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity are all on board.

While this might not seem much for the demanding users, Micromax continues to dominate the wallet-friendly market in India, by providing a wide range of affordable options for everyone willing to give tablets a go.
