14 DAY TRIAL // Indian OEM Micromax is about to take on its competitors on the high-end smartphone market Intex and Gionee with a brand new device, the Canvas Knight A350.
The folks over at MMXNewscaster have just gotten their hands on upcoming Micromax Canvas Knight A350's specs sheet and press render, and from what we have seen, this one may be a winner on the Indian market.
Obviously, it ultimately depends on the price tag and how Micromax will manage marketing prior to launch. Speaking of launch, the Canvas Knight A350 is expected to go on sale sometime in mid-February, a little bit more than a week ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade fair opening.
The good news is Micromax thought it would be wise to include Mediatek's MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, inside the Canvas Knight A350.
The octa-core processor is complemented by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, but there's no word on microSD card slot for memory expansion yet.
We're also not sure if those one will be packed with dual-SIM capabilities, though from the pictures leaked it doesn't appear so.
Furthermore, the high-end smartphone is said to boast a stunning 5-inch full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen display and an impressive 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.
Micromax Canvas Knight A350 is only 7.3mm thin and will be available in black, white and gold color options. A secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and snapshots is included as well.
The bad news is that the smartphone will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is rather old for a flagship device.
However, there's a high chance Micromax will offer an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for the Canvas Knight A350 in the coming weeks following its release.
Even though no price has been confirmed to the Canvas Knight A350 yet, word is the smartphone might go on sale for around Rs 23,000 outright, which is about $365 or €270.
