Indian OEM Micromax has just released yet another mid-range Android smartphone, the Canvas Fire A093. The handset hasn’t been officially introduced in India, but it’s now available for purchase online.

Customers looking for a cheap mid-range Android device may want to take the Canvas Fire A093 into consideration, as the smartphone offers quite decent features.

For the time being, Micromax Canvas Fire A093 is only available for purchase via online retailer Infibeam for only Rs 6,999 ($115 / €85) outright. Keep in mind that the smartphone is only available in Black Gold color, but additional color options may be launched in the future.

According to Snapdeal, customers who order Micromax’s mid-range smartphone will also benefit from free shipping. It’s also worth mentioning that the retailer already has the phone in stock and it will ship any order in 24 hours.

The price puts it in the same category as the Motorola Moto E, which is one of the most popular mid-range Android smartphones available in India.

However, Micromax Canvas Fire A093 offers a mix of features that make it better than the Moto E in some aspects, but also weaker when it comes to a few pieces of hardware components included.

For example, while the Moto E is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, the Canvas Fire A093 is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU.

The bad news is Micromax’s mid-range smartphone packs only 512MB of RAM, whereas Moto E comes with no less than 1GB of RAM by default.

Given the fact that lots of apps and games require phones to have at least 1GB of RAM, the lack of enough memory could be frustrating for some users.

It would have been better to include a weaker processor inside and more RAM for a much smoother experience when running some apps and games.

On the positive side, Micromax Canvas Fire A093 ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is one of the phone’s selling points along with the low price.

The mid-range handset sports a 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. There’s also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features touch focus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera on the front for video calls.

Micromax Canvas Fire A093 offers dual-SIM capability with dual standby support, along with additional connectivity options, such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS.

Keep in mind that the smartphone packs only 4GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via a microSD memory card.
