Good news for Android fans and enthusiasts in India, as native OEM Micromax is about to debut another mid-range smartphone that should become very popular due to its low price.

As many of you probably already know, Micromax teased its upcoming Canvas Doodle 3 phablet a few days ago, but did not offer any details regarding the device's specs sheet, price and availablity.

Although we don't know when exactly the smartphone will go on sale, Indian blog site GadgetsToUse has just gotten more info on the so-called Canvas Doodle 3.

Well, it appears that the smartphone teased recently is in fact the Micromax A102, which arrived in India on April 16. The cited source also managed to score some shots from the original sales package, which also reveals some of the smartphone's specs.

According to the retail box, Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 will boast a huge 6-inch FWVGA (480 x 854 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display and should hit shelves in India very soon, probably next week.

The Canvas Doodle 3 is expected to go on sale for aroung Rs 10,000 ($165 / €120) off contract, but take it with a grain of salt until Micromax comes forward with an official statement.

Given the low price asked by Micromax, Android users should not expect any high-end feature to be included with this affordable smartphone.

Apparently, the Canvas Doodle 3 will be equipped with a not so powerful 1.3GHz dual core MediaTek MTK6582 processor.

Unfortunately, no details about the amount of RAM and storage have been leaked yet, but we suspect the handset may come with around 1GB of RAM and at least 4GB of internal memory.

However, we have it confirmed that Canvas Doodle 3 will pack microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). The smartphone will be powered by a 2,500 mAh battery, which might be enough for the hardware Micromax decided to put inside.

The retail box also mentions the handset sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

The Canvas Doodle 3 will come with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with GPS with A-GPS support and dual-SIM.

The bad news is Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box instead of the latest version of KitKat.

On the bright side, customers who purchase the affordable Canvas Doodle 3 will also receive a magnetic flip cover for free.
