Micromax launched the Canvas Blaze in India over the weekend and most online retailers offer the smartphone for Rs 11,999 ($195/ €140) off contract.

Today, Micromax and Indian carrier MTS have announced they have teamed up to offer the Canvas Blaze to Android fans across the country.

The good news is that MTS offers the Canvas Blaze for only Rs 10,999 ($175 / €130) outright. According to AndroidOS, customers who purchase the smartphone and choose an exclusive plan will also receive 2GB of free data monthly, 1,000 free minutes from MTS to MTS local calling and 120 free minutes for other local and STD calling.

The above-mentioned offer is available for the next six months from the moment the customers sign up for the agreement.

Keep in mind that Micromax Canvas Blaze comes with dual-SIM support (CDMA / GMS), so users can fit in a SIM card from a carrier other than MTS which is using CDMA SIM cards.

Specs-wise, Micromax Canvas Blaze comes with a decent 1.2 GHz dual-core processor provided by Qualcomm, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The smartphone ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back that features autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

Other highlights of the Canvas Blaze include: secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS and 1850 mAh Li-Ion battery.

“At Micromax, it is our constant endeavor to democratise technologies for the masses through our innovative and affordable offerings.

“Our new offering based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will help GSM consumers take advantage of the superior 3G EVDO network of MTS while retaining their GSM number,” said Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax.
