One of the smartphones that mobile phone maker Micromax has been recently rumored to plan on making available for purchase in India was the Micromax Canvas Blaze HD, which is now listed on the vendor’s official online store with a price tag of Rs. 16,000 ($258/€187) attached to it.

The mobile phone was spotted on Micromax’s website last week, yet no specific info on its pricing and availability was available at that time. However, things have changed in the meantime.

Featuring model number EG116, the new Micromax Canvas Blaze HD arrives on the market as an affordable handset, yet it is set to provide users with some very appealing capabilities.

The most important of these is the support for both GSM and CDMA networks, complemented by dual-SIM capabilities, which means that users will be able to enjoy the better of two worlds at the same time with this mobile phone.

Micromax has launched other devices with similar capabilities packed inside as well, yet the new phone combines them with more advanced hardware specs and software features, for an enhanced overall experience.

The smartphone comes with a 5-inch IPS HD (1280 x 720 pixels) touchscreen display, as well as with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon MSM8625Q processor inside, which means that it will also be able to offer great performance for an affordable cost.

Micromax Canvas Blaze HD EG116 sports 1GB of RAM inside, while featuring 4GB of internal memory. However, users will be able to easily expand it through adding memory cards of up to 32GB to the mix.

On the back of the new handset, Micromax packed an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, which should be able to easily record videos in full HD resolution. For those fond of making video calls while on the go, a 2MP front camera was included.

The new Canvas Blaze HD has emerged online with support for 3G networks in India (including EVDO Rev.A and HSDPA), as well as with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth capabilities. Moreover, it sports a built-in GPS receiver, to enable its navigation functionality.

The specs list of this device also includes FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 2000mAh battery. To round up the phone’s specs, we should note that Micromax has loaded Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system on top of it.

At the moment, the new handset is available only in White and can be purchased only through Micromax’s online portal. However, as Fonearena notes, it is expected to land at wireless carrier MTS in March.
