14 DAY TRIAL // Micromax recently introduced its next flagship Android smartphone the Canvas 5 in Russia. Oddly enough, the device has yet to be officially launched in India, Micromax's base of operations.
Russian blog site 4PDA reports that during a press event that marked the Indian company's entry on the Russian market, Micromax showcased a few devices that have yet to be introduced in India.
Among them, the Canvas 5 has been confirmed along with its complete list of specs. First of all, the smartphone will be launched in Russia in the coming weeks as Micromax Canvas Knight A350.
No word on the price tag yet, but we suspect Micromax would want to be competitive and won't be pricing it too high. For those unfamiliar, the Russian market is a bit unusual as most prices are much higher than the rest of European countries.
This is probably one of the reasons Micromax plans to launch several Android smartphones in Russia in the coming months.
Anyway, back on Canvas Knight A350, the smartphone has been confirmed to come equipped with a 2 GHz octa-core processor provided by MediaTek and 2GB of RAM.
In addition, the smartphone packs no less than 32GB of internal memory, but there's no word on microSD card slot so users might be limited to the default storage included. It is also worth mentioning the device is powered by a 2350 mAh battery and is only 7.3mm thin.
Another strong points of the Canvas Knight A350 would be the impressive 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, which features BSI sensor, autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.
There's also a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front, which is perfect for snapshots and video calls. Micromax's next flagship smartphone offers both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS support.
The only downside is the fact the smartphone ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is a bit old for a flagship smartphone.
