Micromax has been long expected to announce a successor for the popular Canvas 4 smartphone, and some more info on the handset is now available.

The upcoming device is now said to hit shelves as Micromax Canvas 5 A350 and to be the first handset from the vendor to pack a MediaTek octa-core processor inside.

Previously, the Micromax A350 was rumored to be launched in the Hero series, but micromaxcanvas.co.in has it under good authority that the smartphone will actually be the next in the Canvas series.

An official confirmation on the matter hasn’t been provided as of now, and we’ll have to take the above with a grain of salt.

According to the leaked details on this smartphone’s hardware specifications, the next Canvas flagship will land on shelves with a 5-inch IPS touchscreen display, capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Furthermore, the handset is expected to land on shelves with a 1.7GHz MT6592 octa-core processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM.

Moreover, it should pack 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot to allow users to add up to 32GB of external storage to it.

On the back, the phone should sport either a 16-megapixel or a 13-megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording. A 5MP front camera is said to have already been confirmed on this smartphone.

At the same time, Micromax Canvas 5 A350 is said to sport dual-SIM capabilities, along with the usual set of sensors (G-sensor, Accelerometer, light sensor, and proximity sensor).

The mobile phone measures 165 x 82.8 x 8mm and weighs 190 grams. It is expected to hit shelves in two color versions, namely White and Black.

No specific info on the smartphone’s operating system version has been provided as of now, but Android 4.4 KitKat looks like a possible option, rumor has it. Hopefully, Micromax will provide specific details on this handset soon, so stay tuned.
