One of the hotly anticipated smartphones in India at the moment is the Micromax Canvas 4, which has already become available for pre-order. Its hardware specs and pricing haven’t been made official yet, though it is set to be unveiled on July 8.

Following a leak that has already exposed the phone’s alleged specifications list, some additional details on what the new device might be all about made it online, suggesting that it could be launched, in fact, as a rebadged BLU Life One.

Micromax has already teased the upcoming handset on its website, offering a glimpse at its outer design, and a recent article on BGR.in claims that the phone’s looks would match those of BLU Life One, which went official earlier this year.

Furthermore, the aforementioned leaked specs are in line with what Chinese OEM BLU announced for its smartphone, further suggesting that we’re actually looking at the same handset.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Canvas 4 was rumored to sport a 5-inch 720p IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection, along with a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 A7 processor inside, PowerVR Series 5XT GPU, and 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the smartphone is said to feature 16GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity with support for Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, 5MP front camera, and a 2000 mAh battery.

The handset should run under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system when made official on July 8. It is expected to be priced at around INR 16,000 ($270/€207).

No official confirmation on the above has been provided, and we’ll take the info on the smartphone’s hardware specs and its great resemblance with BLU Life One with a grain of salt for the time being. The mystery will be solved on July 8, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
