Recently, mobile phone maker Micromax has been rumored to plan the near release of a new Android-based smartphone in the Canvas lineup, namely the Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114, and more confirmation on it is now available.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced as of now, the Canvas 2.2 A114 has made an appearance over at Flipkart, where it is listed with a price tag of Rs. 12,999 ($210/€152) attached to it.

The handset was spotted last week at another retailer in India, and it is expected to arrive on the market as the successor of Canvas 2 Plus, though it remains an entry-level device.

However, as GizBot notes, despite the fact that it does not feature high-end specifications, the Canvas 2.2 A114 should appeal a lot to users on a budget.

The mobile phone arrives on the market with a 5-inch qHD IPS touchscreen display, as well as with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor (MT6582M) packed inside.

Furthermore, it sports 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot that allows users to add some more storage space to it.

On the back, the new device features an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash, and full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities. It was also built with a 2MP front camera for video chatting.

The new Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 comes with Dual-SIM capabilities, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, and FM Radio.

The smartphone is powered by a 2000mAh battery that can offer up to 7 hours of talk time, is 9.7mm thick, and weighs 147 grams. Micromax loaded Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on this smartphone, but it could provide users with an upgrade to a newer OS variant.

Chances are that Canvas 2.2 A114 will be officially announced in India in a matter of days, so stay tuned to learn additional info on its availability and pricing.
