Indian company Micromax is about to release another budget-friendly smartphone powered by Google’s Android platform.

Micromax has a huge lineup of handsets and is launching new phones in India on a weekly basis. The next smartphone set to be released in the coming days is Micromax Bolt A40.

AndroidOS reports that the handset has already been added on the company’s website and is now waiting to be released, probably as soon as the first batch of units arrives from China.

Although there are no details on the phone’s price tag, just by looking at the specs sheet, we can tell this one’s going to be very cheap.

First of all, Micromax Bolt A40 will ship with an older Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system onboard and will pack a single-core Spreadtrum SC6820 processor clocked at 1 GHz.

According to Micromax, the smartphone sports a large 4.5-inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display and a 2-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features fixed focus and LED flash.

Just like most smartphones launched in India, this one will offer dual-SIM support (GSM + GSM). In addition, it will pack a secondary VGA front-facing camera for self-portraits, 512MB of RAM and 512MB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Keep in mind that Bolt A40 only provides 75MB of internal memory by default, so users will definitely need to separately purchase a microSD memory card before they can store music and pictures.

Software-wise, Micromax has confirmed that its upcoming Bolt A40 smartphone will ship with several useful apps such as: EYE Room, M! Live, 3in1 Bubbles, Opera Mini, Hike and Spuul.

Other highlights of the Micromax Bolt A4 include: EDGE and Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack and 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
