Indian handset maker Micromax has just announced the immediate availability of two new Android smartphones, the A90 Superfone Pixel and A100 Superfone Canvas.
Customers in India can now purchase the Micromax A90 Superfone Pixel for Rs 12,990 (235 USD 190 EUR), while the A100 Superfone Canvas is available for only Rs 9,999 (180 USD or 145 EUR) outright.
“We are currently the second largest vendour for Android devices in the country and our target is to be the second largest smartphone brand in India
,” said Ajay Sharma, Head of Smartphone Division at Micromax.
The Indian company also plans to start releasing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for its Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones by early next quarter. Micromax
competes with other Indian handset makers, which is why it aims for a 10% of the smartphone market.
The two new devices launched today are part of Micromax's plan to achieve 10% of the smartphone market. Micromax A90 Superfone Pixel and A100 Superfone Canvas are powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform and pack dual core processors clocked at 1 GHz.
However, the A90 boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and video recording, whereas the A100 sports only a 5-megapixel photo snapper.
It is also worth mentioning Micromax A90 sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, while the A100 comes with a slightly larger 5.0-inch capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 854 pixels resolution.
Micromax A100 Superfone Canvas also features dual-SIM
(GSM + GSM) capability with dual standby, as well as 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
