Two new dual-SIM phones have just been recently introduced in India. Manufactured by regional handset maker Micromax, the A73 and A78 are two affordable Android smartphones.
Customers who prefer native devices can now purchase the Micromax A73 and A78 via Letsbuy
retailer for Rs 7,490 (150 USD or 115 EUR) and Rs 7,990 (160 USD or 120 EUR), respectively.
Micromax’s devices have similar specs and are delivered with branded Bluetooth headset worth Rs 1,000 (20 USD or 15 EUR). However, the Micromax A73 also comes bundled with Norton mobile Security for Android.
According to AndroidOS
, Micromax has yet to officially announce these new smartphones, though both have already been listed on its site. The A73 and A78 are two of Micromax’s Superfone series, which also includes the Micromax Superfone Lite A75
The main difference between the A73 and A78 is the full portrait QWERTY keyboard that is included with the latter.
Micromax A73 offers users only a virtual QWERTY keyboard via its decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 262k colors.
The smartphone also sports a sub-par 2-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as VGA front-facing camera for video calls.
Micromax A78 features a similar 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 262k colors. However, the phone sports a slightly better 3-megapixel rear camera, as well as VGA front-facing camera for self-portraits and video chats.
No word on the amount of memory yet, but both Micromax
smartphones pack microSD card slots for memory expansion (up to 32GB). In addition, both are powered by low-performance 650 MHz single-core processors.
Software-wise, Micromax A73 and A78 run Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and are likely to remain on this version due to their low-specs configuration. Other apps that come pre-loaded with the phones include Facebook, SAAVN, QUIKR, Polaris Office Suite and ZOOMIN.
