The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Regional handset manufacturer Micromax has just announced the upcoming availability of Superfone A45 Punk Android smartphone.

According to Micromax, the handset will soon be available via all leading retailers. Customers will be able to purchase the Superfone A45 Punk in two colors, black and white, for only Rs 5,499 (100 USD or 80 EUR) outright.

The music-oriented A45 Punk smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system.

In addition, the device comes pre-loaded with a slew of useful apps and services, including Mibuddy, Facebook, Mstore and What’s app. More third-party apps can be installed via Google Play store.

With AISHA, a voice recognition app that originally debuted on Micromax A50 Ninja smartphone, users will be able to make calls, send messages, search for a particular person, check out the nearest pizza outlet, weather conditions and much more by using their voice.

Last but not least, Micromax confirmed that the smartphone would be promoted on air and shop-front through a tie-up with the latest Rihanna album, Talk that Talk released on Universal music. Moreover, A45 Punk will come pre-loaded with a ringtone of the hit single “We found love.”

Micromax A45 Punk is equipped with a low-performance 650 MHz single-core processor and a 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 4.5 hours of talk time.

Furthermore, the handset packs a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and a 2-megapixel rear photo snapper.

Although there are no details on the amount of storage available, Micromax mentions the Superfone A45 Punk embeds a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

In order to highlight the multimedia aspects of the smartphone, Micromax provided the smartphone with FM Radio feature and funky looking headphones that are delivered with the device in the sales package.

There’s no word on the exact release date, but Micromax notes the phone is expected to arrive at various retailer in the next couple of days.
