One of the best-selling Android smartphones in China, the Micromax A116 Canvas HD is nowhere to be seen now, even though it was launched in mid-February.

Due to high interest for this particularly low-priced top-notch smartphone, Micromax has decided to sign an agreement with major retailer Snapdeal for the sale of the A116 Canvas HD.

However, things didn’t turn out quite alright for those who were anxious to purchase the smartphone, as Micromax only had a limited stock of A116 Canvas HD units up for sale.

The company confirmed a few days later that it had sold around 9,000 units via Snapdeal. Keep in mind that this amount was sold in just one day, though Snapdeal accepted orders for Micromax A116 Canvas HD the following two days as well.

Currently, Micromax has a backlog of around 5,000 orders, which needs to be fulfilled in the coming weeks.

According to AndroidOS, the Indian company expected new Micromax A116 Canvas HD shipments this week, but for various reasons, the Chinese company that manufactures the phone was unable to deliver as promised.

Daily Bhaskar reports that Snapdeal has confirmed that new Micromax A116 Canvas HD shipments might arrive in the last week of March.

Unfortunately, when it comes to this particular phone, it’s hard to predict anything, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

Micromax A116 Canvas HD was available at Snapdeal for only Rs 13,990 ($260/€190). The smartphone is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and comes equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek process.

Furthermore, the handset packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). It also boasts a stunning 5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera.
