We reported last week on Micromax’ intention to offer owners of A110 Canvas 2 the possibility to upgrade their smartphones to a new version of Android.

The Indian company does not seem to have all the infrastructure required to push this update OTA (over the air), so Micromax A110 Canvas 2 owners will need to visit the nearest authorized service center in order to get the upgrade.

However, Android tech-savvy will be happy to know Micromax already released the update file, so if you know how to flash it, you only need to download the necessary tools.

For more details on how to download and install Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on Micromax A110 Canvas 2, users might want to check out this dedicated topic on XDA Developers forum.

Unfortunately, Micromax does not offer too many details on the changes, except these listed below:

- Operating system is upgraded from Ice Cream Sandwich to Jelly Bean; - M! Store is removed; - New wallpapers are integrated.

Keep in mind that this update has around 280MB is size and will bump the phone’s software to Android 4.1.1 and kernel to version 3.4.0.

Those who already upgraded will notice a much smoother user interface with vsync timing across all drawing and animation done by the Android framework, including application rendering, touch events, screen composition and display refresh.

The update also brings enhanced accessibility, expandable notifications, ability to turn off notifications on an app specific basis, offline voice dictation and more.

Android Beam, improved voice search, enhanced camera application, Google Now and ability for other launchers to add widgets from the app drawer without requiring root access will be available as well.

This might be the last major update for A110 Canvas 2, though Micromax did not make any comments on the subject for now. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
