Microids Might Be Holding a Big Secret

Will Kate Walker return for a Syberia 3?

The company known for some of the best point and click adventure games of recent times, Microids, has just announced a rather strange project: it released the official website for the Syberia Series. Yes, we're talking about Benoit Sokal's masterpiece, the same which got its last game released in 2004 (according to the creator, a Syberia 3 game will not exist).

However, I must admit I find Microids' decision to release the website quite strange and they could have a serious reason to do that. And what would be more serious than preparing the grounds for a third installment in the series?

Indeed, there will be a game released by the end of the year, Syberia for the DS - a remake of the original title for the handheld, but we truly doubt that's a project big enough to deserve its own website (especially since it is actually placed at the bottom of the page).

The people at Microids stated that they created the official website for the series to bring together wallpapers, trailers, walkthroughs, demos and patches, as well as more details on the titles. Also, the company is said to be glad to bring together all the discussions in one forum, which was managed and animated over the last few years by a team of Syberia fans. Although all the stated reasons might be strong enough to deserve a website, we truly hope that a new Syberia game is actually in the works.

And, even though the creator of the series, Benoit Sokal, as we've said before, announced that Syberia 2 as the last game, it is still his most successful title, even though he released two more decent games in the meantime, Paradise and Sinking Island. Not to mention the fact that Syberia fans are still wondering what happened with Kate after she reached Syberia... So, what do you think? Wouldn't it be great to get a Syberia 3 from Microids and Mr. Sokal?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't do it, i mean Syberia series is truly the best adventures ever made , maybe Kate will no longer be the main character , think of a third series where Han's close relatives would be the protagonists so we could see more of Han's personality and genius , that would be beyond awesome...

I would be thrilled if another adventure game with Kate Walker would be developed and released, or at least one which would sequel Syberia II. The best adventure game I've found thus far.

Syberia I and II needs a III and a IV. I have not found any adventure game that measures up to the adventures of Kate Walker. Perhaps, a comic book would also be in the making.

I was one of the first few ppl in my country to finish these two games or should I say, "works of art" first. Maybe Syberia made a mark in us that we should not change. It's an adventure game. We all know that Kate Walker is an adventure person and she manages to do almost anything. So I don't think pulling on the old strings again would be a good idea. Rather Mr. Sokal should make a new adventure game using the same platform. The game as good as it is, was made even better by the graohics, sound and superb animation in a low memeory platform which was a stroke of genious. On behalf of all the Siberia fans, I thank the real Hans Voralberg (Mr. B. Sokal) of our time for giving us a taste of his genius...

I am a long time lover of adventure games. My partner just introduced me to Syberia 1 in the summer, I have now finished Syberia 2 and noticed this thread in regards to Syberia 3. I must comment, and stress that SYBERIA 3 and a 4TH IS A MUST!! ALSO, What about a MOVIE!!!!!!!!

The two Syberias were great. Lovely graphics and decent story lines.

However, doesn't compare to the Quest for Glory series, in spite of vastly inferior graphics. Or any of the Myst games, save the third.

Or how about King's Quest? Again the graphics can't compare to the lovely work in Syberia, but the game is superior.

There should be another Syberia. It would be a shame, if they won't create it. We don't know what happened to Kate. Does she survived?

After all, Syberia is the best point'n'click game I've ever played. It may sound strange, but this game made me cry. It touched my soul so deeply..
Ech. Benoit Sokal, if you gonna create Syberia 3, I'm gonna create a statue of you.
XD

Syberia 3,would have Kate follow the mammouths. Only two discover that Hans has built an under ground city. And needs Kate to help him finish his city, through a series of missions. To bring back Anna from death in order to do this Kate must ride with Oscar on the train to different locations to finish the time machine in witch Hans can finish building in order to go back to the day he fell in the cave. And change his future for ever.Only his father stops him at the last moment.Syberia 4 Kate and Hans must stop his father in order to fall in love and change there furure. But only with the help of the spirit lady who helps Kate defeat Han's father. And one last twist Han's and Kate go back for the little girl with no mother,oh and youkie.

Your scenario is not bad. I could agree with the most of Your suggestions and visions, as it could be continued. There are really some unanswered questions to be answered. Some people think, that the ending should be left like that, and no further sequel should be added. This might be a point of view of individuals. I think it would be reasonable, to go ahead. To me, it seemed unfinished. Hans is going away, sitting on the mammouth; Kate ist waving after him with tears in her eyes. What is she doing next? Just being left, where she is? Where is Hans heading for? There are so many open questions.......

I love the Syberia series. I hope they come out with a new one. Point and click adventures are the best possible games for the PC.

I also love the Syberia series. I would love it if they came out with Syberia 3.

I demand another Syberia!! (Please?)

Comment #15 by: Crystal on 18 Mar 2009, 01:41 UTC reply to this comment

Oooo... one more thing. Maybe Syberia 3 could beat Dreamfall, and come out as chapters, online. Come on Benoit! Let's get this going. Want some help? :)

I am so hoping that there will be more of the Syberia series games. They are wonderful! Amazingly, you really get into the characters' personalities and even delelop an empathy for them.
There is so much left unresolved in Syberia 2.... and there is also so much more to be explored. Please don't leave Kate sitting there in the rain on that island all by herself (and the Youki in the cage by the gate)!

Syberia 3. Of course. How did Voralberg get the same mechanical mindset as the Youkals (remember the bone key?), is it a mindwarp when he was still a child? An island with blue grasses and dycotiledon trees? Hyperborea? How about those pioneer Youkals? Are they extinct?

Maybe someone else being sent to search for Kate Walker, and that would be us playing as the main character.

Maybe Syberia 1 & 2 are just the beginning...

I don't think that there needs to be a third Syberia game. I've just finished playing Syberia II no less than a minute ago, and it was so beautiful...I don't think that a third game would really be worth it. Why not just leave it at a happy ending? There shouldn't be anything more to do. It was a brilliant game and absolutely gorgeous as a work of art. I say NAY, no Syberia 3.

But a movie of the first two would be incredible.
