Are we allowed to dream of Syberia 3?

The company known for some of the best point and click adventure games of recent times, Microids, has just announced a rather strange project: it released the official website for the Syberia Series. Yes, we're talking about Benoit Sokal's masterpiece, the same which got its last game released in 2004 (according to the creator, a Syberia 3 game will not exist).

However, I must admit I find Microids' decision to release the website quite strange and they could have a serious reason to do that. And what would be more serious than preparing the grounds for a third installment in the series?

Indeed, there will be a game released by the end of the year, Syberia for the DS - a remake of the original title for the handheld, but we truly doubt that's a project big enough to deserve its own website (especially since it is actually placed at the bottom of the page).

The people at Microids stated that they created the official website for the series to bring together wallpapers, trailers, walkthroughs, demos and patches, as well as more details on the titles. Also, the company is said to be glad to bring together all the discussions in one forum, which was managed and animated over the last few years by a team of Syberia fans. Although all the stated reasons might be strong enough to deserve a website, we truly hope that a new Syberia game is actually in the works.

And, even though the creator of the series, Benoit Sokal, as we've said before, announced that Syberia 2 as the last game, it is still his most successful title, even though he released two more decent games in the meantime, Paradise and Sinking Island. Not to mention the fact that Syberia fans are still wondering what happened with Kate after she reached Syberia... So, what do you think? Wouldn't it be great to get a Syberia 3 from Microids and Mr. Sokal?
