There is no question that Sandy Bridge-powered laptops will keep coming out for months, so it wasn't really surprising to learn that MSI delivered a pair of such notebooks, or at least will do so sooner instead of later.
It appears that yet another product, or in this case pair of products, have been released in the long saga of the Intel Sandy Bridge platform.
While sales and releases were halted during most of the first quarter, because of the flaw discovered with the 6-series Cougar Point chipset, things are now back to normal.
It is Micro-Star International that revealed the two latest notebooks to enter the field, their names being FX620DX and FX420.
They have screen sizes of 15.6 inches and 14 inches and display resolutions of Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and HD (1,366 x 768 pixels), respectively.
The FX420 is based on the Core i5-2410M central processing unit (whose clock speed is of 2.3 GHz) and has the AMD Radeon HD 6470M discrete graphics card to boot.
There is also mention of a hard drive with a storage capacity of up to 750 GB, an optical disk drive (DVD or Blu-ray), plus the complete collection of connectivity and I/O options.
The list include Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, a webcam (720p), 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a card reader and even two SuperSPeed USB 3.0 ports.
The FX620DX is largely similar, except for the aforementioned screen attributes and the possible CPUs.
Specifically, in addition to the Core i5-2410M, one can utilize the Core i7-2630QM, whose own clock speed is of 2.0 GHz.
Finally, as bonuses, MSI threw in chiclet keyboards, the Cinema Pro technology, THX TruStudio Pro-enhanced speakers, the ECO Engine (for power saving) and the GPU graphics switching technology, all in cases with anti-scratch, smudge-resistant, non-peeling raised texture seal coating.
Unfortunately, the
formal announcement held no pricing and availability information.
