The only one with a camera set on a swivel mount

We've seen many, many quadcopters in our time, and we will no doubt continue to see new ones crop up as time passes, but there are still some things that can surprise us. The Micro Drone 2.0 just did it, and in a pleasant way too.

You've probably heard about things like this by now, little robots that use four propellers to fly in the air and do various things, both independently and via remote control.

The Micro Drone 2.0 that we're looking at right now is meant to be controlled by you from afar, and has a range of 400 feet or so. Around 120 meters if you're not an American.

The drone is pretty light, weighing just one ounce / 28 grams if you can believe it. As far as micro drones go, it's probably the smallest. Even if it isn't, it has its own perks, or one of them.

Swivel-mounted camera

There were no micro drones in the world that had this type of camera setup, but now there is one, meaning that you don't have to worry about wobbly footage when turning it around.

Mostly because you don't need to turn the drone itself around that much, since the mechanism holding the camera attached to the underside can turn on its own.

It almost makes us wish the device could be worn somehow, when not in use, like that neat little wearable quadcopter of last week, which can fold around your wrist like a bracelet.

Other assets of the Micro Drone 2.0

The camera is just the most noteworthy of the details, assuming you care more about taking aerial shots and videos than about playing with your new toy.

If it's the piloting rush you like more, never fear! You'll be able to get the drone swooping all over the place in a jiffy, without having to worry about losing control of it. Not as much as it would usually be the case anyhow.

Why? Because the micro drone is self-righting and has a pre-programmed flipping subroutine that enables it to make flips in mid-air if you are so inclined.

Availability and pricing

Admittedly, the new drone from Extreme Fliers isn't altogether new, exactly. However, it does seem to sell for almost half the usual price at the moment. Maybe it's a way to welcome Halloween or something. Anyway, the device ships for $74.99 / €60 with free international shipping, a 46% reduction to the normal tag.

The drone can be recharged over USB and ships with 4 spare blades and a mini screwdriver for attaching the camera. The Micro Drone 2.0 sale offer lasts 10 days.
