He worked in both media

Hollywood and the gaming industry are becoming closer and closer these days, as almost any new blockbuster has to get a video game tie-in, in order to get even more money for the companies involved in the project. Also, in most cases, these games benefit from famous actors coming in and doing the voice work for their characters.

But it seems that actors still don't see video games as a business as serious as movie making, mainly because most people don't really take into account the performance of an actor's voice in a game like his character in a movie, at least according to famous actor Mickey Rourke.

The Oscar-nominated entertainer has talked about his involvement in the two branches of the industry, as he lent his voice to the upcoming first person shooter Rogue Warrior. He will be voicing the main character of the game,  Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko.

He revealed, “I don't really think people yet are comparing the two, insofar as somebody's performance in a video game as opposed to a feature film. The fact is, when I go out and see another actor we're not going to talk about video games.”

But don't think that every actor is following that train of thought, as the man who did Albert Wesker's voice in the recent Resident Evil 5 video game, D.C Douglas, has boldly claimed that video games have arrived in terms of mainstream media buzz and if things like residual payments are sorted in the near future, a lot of other actors will start appearing more and more in them.

Hopefully we will be able to see other big Hollywood actors endorse our video games with either their voice or their likeness in the near future. Until then, we can still have a great time with our favorite pastime.
