Stunner Evan Rachel Wood is both offended and upset by the rumors circulating now in the media, according to which she and co-star Mickey Rourke are more than just friends. In a statement released to Rolling Stone, the actress makes it pretty clear that she is not the one to let this go on without setting the record straight.

In the statement just made public, Wood denies all rumors of a hook up at a Golden Globes after-party, as Fox News reported earlier this week. She and Rourke are just two actors who starred in the same movie, and nothing more than that, she tells the magazine. Moreover, this kind of gossip can but be damaging for her career as a rising star, and could potentially end up in ruining her chances of getting more good parts.

“I’m upset because I feel disrespected by the press and by Mr. Rourke. Just because I’m single doesn’t mean that you can take advantage of me. It’s unfair that the performances might suffer because of all of these distractions. I’m not attracted to him, he’s too old for me. Nothing ever happened and nothing ever will.” Evan Rachel Wood stresses in the statement. Anything that goes beyond professional courtesy is pure speculation, she says.

When the rumor of the two dating took over the media, it barely came as a surprise, as it had been heard before, a couple of months back, when Rourke and Wood were still spending time on the set of “The Wrestler,” wrapping the movie up. Nevertheless, it did mark the first time that a reliable source such as Fox News came to offer what seemed like genuine information on the nature of their relationship.

“The two attended Grey Goose’s Official SAG after-party at the Shrine on Sunday evening but were spotted leaving together enroute to the later after party at the Four Seasons Hotel. According to Pop Tarts spies, the actress went upstairs with Rourke (whose second marriage ended over a decade ago) when he suddenly grabbed her for a lip-lock in the outside area of the swanky five-star hotel.” Fox News said at the time.
