Mickey Rourke doesn’t really think that Megan Fox is a bad actress or that the movie they made together, “Passion Play,” is so bad it can’t but get a straight to DVD release – even if he said those very things himself.

A few days ago, Vulture caught up with the Oscar-nominated actor at the premiere party for “Scream 4,” and he was clearly out of nice things to say about the people he’s worked with lately.

After the e-zine printed the story of how Rourke ripped into Fox and the movie (which, as a side note, failed to get a wide release), the actor came back with an explanation for why he said the things he said.

As it turns out, he didn’t mean them: he was simply having a bad time and the place for that discussion was simply not right.

“Hey, guys. When I talked to you, I was at a party. It was loud and crowded, I was in a [bad] mood and I was trying to get rid of your reporter,” Rourke says of his harsh criticism of fellow actors and movie people.

“Mitch is one of my best friends since we were kids. I loved working with him and would do it again tomorrow. I don’t know why I said that stupid [stuff]. I love Mitch, I love Megan. My bad,” the actor added.

Because of the way he quickly backtracked on his previous statements, many people believe he was forced to apologize, given that “Passion Play” comes out on May 6.

Right now, the movie has received a fair share of criticism as it is; it doesn’t need even more bad publicity, let alone from one of the members of the main cast.

“Terrible. Another terrible movie. But, you know, in your career and all the movies you make, you’re going to make dozens of terrible ones,” Rourke said of the film, which he hinted he only made “for the money.”
