Because of the tell-all interview revealing she had an affair with Sandra Bullock’s husband, Jesse James, going on for almost an entire year, Michelle “Bombshell” McGee has often been referred to as the most hated woman in America. Not only does she resent the label, but she also sees it as unjust since she did not ruin James’ marriage, she says in a new interview cited by E! Online.

Though it always takes two to tango, McGee insists she has no blame in James’ crumbling marriage (reports claim Sandra Bullock is looking to divorce him after a string of alleged mistresses also step forward to speak of Jesse’s infidelity). Before she became involved with James, he told her that he and Sandra were no longer together, though they hadn’t yet divorced. It’s only because of this that she agreed to be with him in the first place.

“Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee insists that she wouldn’t be living a PR nightmare if Jesse James had just been honest with her. ‘I am not a homewrecker,’ she said in a sit-down Thursday with Daily 10. ‘I don’t believe I destroyed their marriage. Jesse destroyed his marriage. My message to Jesse would be, ‘If you were honest to me up front... we wouldn’t be in this situation.’ It’s hard to be the most hated person in America,’ McGee continued. ‘It’s easy to target someone who looks different.’ Or someone who sold her story to a tabloid...” E! writes, citing McGee.

In the same interview, McGee also revealed she was sorry to have put Sandra Bullock in such an embarrassing situation, but stressed that she saw nothing wrong with going to the tabs with her side of the story. They would have printed it either way, so it was best if it came straight from her, is how McGee sees it. “I hope she [Sandra Bullock] does watch this. I’m sorry this all happened. I want to apologize for her hurt and embarrassment. I’m sorry this went public. I knew I was going to get some kind of backlash – this was America’s sweetheart. [But] I would do it again,” the tattoo model explained.

McGee also went on the record to say that she believed Jesse James should be the one taking fire for the affair and not her. Moreover, she didn’t buy his rehab excuse, saying this was certainly something he’d come up with in a bid to appease Sandra Bullock and the public, which left her (McGee) uncovered to be the target of all attacks.
