Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, says that Nintendo’s greatest asset and biggest vulnerability are both linked to its ability to innovate and deliver surprising hardware and video games.

The developer tells The Official Nintendo Magazine that, “Today, the biggest surprises seem to come from Nintendo. People may like those surprises or not, but that’s a fact. Miiverse was a surprise, the GamePad was a surprise.”

The Wii U was certainly a surprise when it launched and many gamers still do not know exactly how to approach the new Nintendo device.

The company has said that it plans to continue launching high-profile titles for the home consoles in order to make it more attractive to gamers.

The innovative 3DS continues to be a success and Nintendo has recently launched a new 2DS handheld in order to offer a cheaper alternative for gamers who are not interested in three dimensional gaming.
