It's been over three months since Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has suffered a serious skiing accident that has left him in a coma at the hospital in Grenoble. So long in fact, that his fans were beginning to lose their hope he would recover at all.

Helping to spread this state of discouragement and rumors about his declining health has been the silence his family and representatives have adhered to since the accident. News about his state of health have been scarce and vague, speaking only that this was going to take time.

Today, a silver lining has appeared on the horizon as Michael's publicist, Sabine Kehm, has come forward with the first bit of positive news since he's been rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery on his head.

According to Euronews, Sabine mentioned in a statement that “Michael makes progress on his path. He shows moments of consciousness and awakening.” This comes as a relief for people who have been following his evolution since his accident in the French Alps when he hit his head off piste.

There have been conflicting reports about his state of health, saying that Schumacher was feeling worse after he contracted a dangerous form of pneumonia while in the hospital and was being treated with strong antibiotics.

Also, there was a report saying that his family was making extensive renovations to his Swiss home in order to accommodate a permanent stay there, indicating that he will never recover from his coma. His wife Corina was rumored to have spent millions in making modifications to her home as hopes for Schumacher's recovery faded.

Sabine Kehm dismissed the allegation in her statement today, “I can only say again: There are signs that give us encouragement. The rumors that Corinna remodels her house to bring the supposedly ‘hopeless case Michael’ home, are absolutely groundless.”

Schumacher has been in a medically induced coma since the accident he suffered on December 29. Today, doctors are said be still very cautious about bringing him back to consciousness and they are still fearing a sudden set-back in his overall state of health.

In the end, she reiterated the family's plea for privacy and explained that, in accordance with their wish, she wouldn't be giving constant updates on his state of health. She also appealed to the press to stop hounding the medical staff at the facility with requests for updates on Schumacher's health and let them perform their duties in peace.
