Rumors that Michael Muhney was coming back to “The Young and the Restless” really picked up steam this month but, while we’re still to hear anything concrete on the topic, we do have an amazing piece of news for Muhney’s loyal fans, particularly for those who doubted him after the announcement that he had been fired from the show.

The Michael Muhney saga (also known as #SaveMuhney on Twitter, but that’s not the only popular hashtag) started in December, when he announced he’d been let go and that his last episode as the insanely popular Adam Newman would air in January.

Shortly afterwards, one report claimed that the reason Muhney had been axed out of the blue was that he had harassed and groped co-star Hunter King. Instead of going to the police to file a report, she went to the producers and the CBS bosses to demand that Muhney be fired – it was either that or she would go public with her scandalous story, it was said.

For his part, the actor did urge his fans on Twitter not to believe anything they read but, as reports of the alleged groping picked up, they started to wonder if there was any truth to them after all. His silence on the topic was taken as confirmation of the fact, as also was the fact that no one else involved in this spoke up to address the controversy.

There never was any truth to the brouhaha, Muhney’s mother says on Twitter in a Q&A she did with her son’s fans.

“Michael gave the answers to his exit in his last interview. As to rumors, gossip rags quoted an anonymous fan who posted on a message board. Silly. There's never a need to comment on rumors. They're neverending! And also, all those rumors were absolutely UNTRUE!” the actor’s mother writes.

She also says that Michael went off Twitter for a while after he was fired because that’s what he felt like, not because he was being banned from speaking out. No one ever forbade him from saying anything: he just chose not to.

With this happy news, Muhney’s mother also delivers a less pleasant piece: all those rumors you heard about the possibility of having him back as Adam Newman are just that. For the time being, at least.

“Lots of questions about where you will see Michael next... rather than answer each one individually, here's an answer to all of them... Michael is waiting for the right contract with the right offer. When he sees one he likes, he'll take it. When Michael has news to share, he'll share it,” the star’s mother says.

Of course, that’s not to say you should lose hope that he’ll come back – but you might want to exercise some restraint in your optimism.
