14 DAY TRIAL // After a failed marriage, a bitter divorce and another long-term relationship that ended with a restraining order, Michael Lohan is again ready to move on with his life. Though he denied reports at first, Lindsay’s father is now confirming for People magazine that he and Kate Major, former Star editor and former flame of none other than Jon Gosselin himself, are engaged to be married.
Earlier this year, when Mr. Lohan unveiled a new tattoo on his arm, he also said that his best friend at the time, Kate Major, once known as Kate 2.0 back when she dated Mr. Gosselin, also got a similar ink. This, of course, sparked rumors that the two were a romantic item, but both Lohan and Major herself denied the report, saying they were just friends, who had in common the hatred they felt for Jon Gosselin.
Things have changed a lot since then. “Michael Lohan and Kate Major, the former reporter who was previously romantically linked to Jon Gosselin, are engaged. No date has been set for the wedding, but Major tells People, ‘I’ve already talked to some of the bridesmaids, and it will probably be in New York, probably at the end of this year.’ Major, 27, brought Michael Lohan, who turns 50 on April 25, to meet her father in Florida over Easter Weekend to get his approval,” People magazine writes.
The approval was easily obtained and now both Major and Lohan are anxiously preparing for the wedding. “I’m very traditional, so I wanted him to talk to my father. Michael went down with me to Florida for Easter, to meet my father to ask for his permission, and my father gave his blessing. I’m ecstatic. I’m very happy. Michael and I have known each other for four years, and it’s meant to be,” the former tabloid editor says.
Michael too confirmed the happy news for the publication, saying that he was ecstatic that he’d finally found someone to whom he could relate so easily. Kate Major was his friend, so the transition to lovers was made easily. Most importantly, Kate was a woman who did not come with extra baggage, Mr. Lohan also said, perhaps forgetting the bitter exchange of words she had with Gosselin over their short-lived romance.
