14 DAY TRIAL // Michael Lohan, the father of much mediated star Lindsay Lohan, has just been arrested for violating a restriction order issued against him at the request of his ex girlfriend, Erin Muller. Mr. Lohan attempted to make contact with Muller by phone, which he is explicitly prohibited to do, TMZ says, and this resulted in his arrest.
Lohan, who has a long history of legal problems, from a fraud conviction to being detained and charged for threatening to kill himself and Muller a while back, has been taken to the police station and charged, the paparazzi agency / celebrity gossip website says. Following said incident, Muller turned to a court of law for protection against Lohan – and his contacting her by phone was also stipulated in the protection order issued for her.
“Michael Lohan was thrown back into the slammer this weekend – and we’ve learned it was all over a phone call to his ex-girlfriend. According to law enforcement sources, Lindsay Lohan’s dad was arrested in Medford, NY today after calling up a woman who has a restraining order against him – his ex Erin Muller. We’re told Lohan was charged with criminal contempt of court because she has an order of protection against him restricting Michael from ‘trying to communicate by phone’,” TMZ says.
As of now, Lohan’s whereabouts are not yet known, but it is believed he has been released on bail, which means he’s set to release a statement about the incident soon, in true Lohan fashion. Michael Lohan last made headlines after testifying in the TLC vs. Jon Gosselin lawsuit, where he was cited as a witness for the network for his ability to offer proof that Gosselin violated the exclusive contract that bound him to it.
Gosselin’s attorney though said at the time that Mr. Lohan did not even know his client that well, only using him for publicity purposes. “I think it’s regrettable that Michael Lohan is publicly discussing his relationship with Jon. Jon really doesn’t want to dignify anything that Mr. Lohan is addressing in the media. I think it’s very clear that Jon did not enter into any legal arrangement with Mr. Lohan and has done nothing of a negative nature in his dealings with Mr. Lohan... I think he only knew Mr. Lohan for under a week,” attorney Mark Heller was saying a while ago, as we also reported.
