The title is very deceptive when it comes to the movie “Birdman.” At first glance, this production is just one of those superhero movies that are today coming out in cinemas at the rate of about one per week. In fact, Michael Keaton's “Birdman” is a powerful introspection of the human mind.

Keaton plays the role of a formerly famous actor, famed for his role as a superhero, known as “Birdman.” His glory days are long behind him and he's now desperately trying to get back some of his credibility, while also attempting to win back the love of his daughter, played by Emma Stone.

His efforts to put on a Broadway play aren't met with instant success, and the days leading up to the premier, Keaton faces the problem of having to deal with his alternate ego which starts fantasizing about the days when he used to be a superhero.

Zack Galifianakis also makes an appearance in the film, one that's less usual for him because this time around he's not playing a goofy character. Other actors that participate in the project are Edward Norton, Amy Ryan and Naomi Watts.

The film is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and it's scheduled for release on October 17 this year.

The trailer can be watched on this page, but you should know that the video contains some strong language.
