Just days after she told the press that she knew for a fact, as also did Michael Jordan, that he was the father of her child, the woman suing the star for paternity and child support has decided to drop the case, it has emerged.

The case has been getting plenty of media attention for some time, with Pamela Smith talking to the press about it on several occasions and insisting that her 16-year-old son was also Jordan’s, the result of a night of passion in 1995.

Today, TMZ reports that she’s decided to have the case dropped even though, until just recently, she was adamant that even Jordan knew the boy was his son but just didn’t want to admit it publicly.

“TMZ has learned Pamela Smith has filed legal documents in Georgia asking the judge to dismiss her case against MJ – and her request was granted without prejudice (meaning she can refile at a later time if she wants to),” the celebrity publication writes.

“It's unclear why Pamela wanted the case dismissed – considering she had recently asked the court to order a DNA test ASAP,” adds the same media outlet.

“Pamela's attorney Randy Kessler tells TMZ she dropped the case on his advice that ‘dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is in her son’s best interests’,” TMZ further says.

In a video posted online last December, the teen, Taj, called out Jordan for refusing to acknowledge him as his legitimate son, pleading with him to do so legally, as we also reported some time ago.

He also claimed that Jordan acted like a father to him in pretty much everything else, visiting him regularly and making sure he wanted for nothing.

Why his mother would wait so long before filing the paternity papers if everybody involved knew the truth from the start was the first indication that something was off about the story, voices online are now saying.
