2K Sports has confirmed recent rumors that stated that Michael Jordan would appear on the cover of the latest entry in the NBA 2K series. NBA 2K11 will indeed feature Jordan, making this the basketball legend's first presence in a video-game in almost seven years. This comes after another great deal signed between 2K Sports and basketball super star Kobe Bryant last year.

Jason Argent, the vice president of marketing at 2K Sports, seemed very proud of this achievement in his interview with CNBC.com, stating that, “We’ve made a lot of progress over the past 10 years, but we know we have the best NBA video game ever made here. So we thought to ourselves how can we embody that and there was only one person on that list who we wanted to have and that was Michael Jordan. Actually getting this done is the most ridiculous win of all-time.”

Nothing was revealed about the title's features or Jordan's role in it, but the same partially confirmed rumors stated that 2K Sports was working on a game mode that covered highlights of his career. Jordan is also excited about his digital comeback, as he has said that, “It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11. I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with gamers and basketball fans alike. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the court, virtually.”

NBA 2K11 is the sequel to 2009's critically acclaimed NBA 2K10, which was praised for its high attention to detail, presentation values and diverse game types. Fans are hoping that this new version will bring performance improvements and better menus, as these were the lacking characteristics from NBA 2K10. NBA 2K11 is aimed at an October 2010 launch on most current-gen home and handheld platforms.
