Proving that a true legend never dies but continues to live in the hearts of fans, Forbes magazine has released its annual list of top-earning dead celebrities: the King of Pop Michael Jackson takes the figurative crown.

Last year, Michael Jackson sold merchandise (albums, tickets and actual merch) and earned for the Michael Jackson Estate a whopping $160 million (€115.8 million). He was on the second spot last year, but two very successful Jackson-themed Cirque du Soleil shows propelled him straight to the top.

The runner-up is the King himself, Elvis Presely, though he’s at a considerable distance from MJ, having made only $55 million (€39.8 million).

Charles Schulz is third with $37 million (€26.7 million), while Dame Elizabeth Taylor lands on the fourth spot with $25 million (€18.1 million). The top 5 is rounded up by Bob Marley who, last year, made $18 million (€13 million) in sales.

I would caption the video above simply as “never forget,” which I’m sure was the message Michael also wanted you to take with you from it.
