Taylor Swift has such a reputation of a serial dater that even other celebrities who have not met her are willing to crack a joke at her expense: like Michael J. Fox did recently, when he warned her to “back off” his son Sam.

The whole thing actually started the weekend before last at the Golden Globes 2013, when hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler spotted a single Taylor in the audience and thought including a joke at her expense would be considered in good fun.

If it was, Taylor never showed it.

They too warned her to leave Sam Fox alone, which Sam’s father, the famous actor, reiterated later, in an interview about his comeback to television after all these years fighting Parkinson’s.

The other day, Taylor took to her Twitter to say that everything was ok between herself and Michael J. Fox, so her fans could leave him be.

“Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good. Thank you for having my back,” she wrote.

“No. No... Just back off. I don’t keep up with it all. But Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career,” Michael had said in the aforementioned interview, as we also reported at the time.

Though he continued with a joke, everybody interpreted his comment as a diss.

Now, whether Fox actually got in touch with Taylor to clear the air on the comment or even apologize, as some media outlets are saying he did, we can’t know.

So we’ll just have to take Taylor’s word on it that everything’s fine between the two of them.

For those keeping tabs, Taylor is now single, having just broken up with One Direction singer Harry Styles.
