14 DAY TRIAL // As the saying goes, it’s better late than never at all. Congratulations are in order for handsome actor Michael Ealy, who has tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Khatira Rafiqzada.
Together for about 4 years, the two always managed to keep a very low profile, which would explain how it was possible for their wedding to go by unnoticed by the tabloids.
Though it’s become tradition for celebrities to make a big spectacle of their private lives, Michael and Khatira are the exception.
People magazine has confirmation of the wedding, together with the detail that it took place in Los Angeles and was an extremely intimate and quiet affair – so intimate that it took the press 3 months to find out about it.
“Belated congratulations! Actor Michael Ealy married longtime girlfriend Khatira Rafiqzada... back in October,” Ealy’s publicist confirms.
The rep also offers an explanation for the secrecy and, just as importantly, for the decision to break the silence now and announce that the ceremony took place.
“Michael has always been a private guy, and he wanted to enjoy his time as a newlywed with his wife privately,” the statement says.
“Now that some time has passed and the holidays are here, he wanted to share the news with his fans that he is married and very happy,” it adds.
Ealy is known most for his television work, having gotten his start in the ‘90s in off-Broadway productions, but has had a few successful outings in film as well.
He’s been nominated for his work for a Golden Globe Award, an NAACP Image Award and a Teen Choice Award. Wins include Best Actor at the Black Reel Awards and Best Supporting Actor at the African-American Film Critics Association Awards.
