Michael Douglas’ eldest son, Cameron, has just pled guilty to charges of drug dealing and possession, stemming from an arrest of last summer, People magazine informs. Addressing the court, Cameron said he knew what he did was wrong, but that will perhaps matter very little when he’s sentenced on April 27, as he faces 10 years of imprisonment, the same publication says.

The 31-year-old actor and DJ was arrested last summer on suspicion of conspiracy to distribute crystal meth and cocaine and possession of heroin. He was detained and incarcerated and, since then, he constantly cooperated with authorities in the investigation. According to court documents, Cameron would distribute the drugs out of his hotel room, sending them via FedEx to New York. The entire thing lasted between 2006 to 2009.

“Cameron Douglas, the eldest son of Oscar winner Michael Douglas, pleaded guilty in a New York courtroom Wednesday to distributing a large quantity of crystal meth, a charge that carries a mandatory 10-year prison sentence. Douglas, 31, told a federal judge that he had became involved in drug dealing after 2006. ‘I began supplying on a regular basis,’ he said, according to press accounts. Asked by the judge if he knew what he did was wrong, Douglas replied, ‘Yes, your honor’,” People writes of the recent court hearing.

“Douglas also pleaded guilty to heroin possession – a charge that resulted from his girlfriend’s allegedly smuggling the narcotic to him in a toothbrush while he was under house arrest on the other drug charge. Douglas, a deejay and actor with a history of drug abuse, was caught in a federal drug investigation last July. After spending six months in a federal lockup, Douglas pled guilty as part of a plea agreement – the details of which were not disclosed,” the publication further says.

Speaking recently to the media, veteran actor Michael Douglas acknowledged that his son was in serious trouble, but said that the arrest and his legal issues had also forced him to finally face his many demons, referring to his long battle with drug addiction. In another interview, Douglas revealed he had not been an ideal father, saying his “failures” as a parent had paved the way for his son’s issues.
