“Michael is totally focused on his recovery,” rep says, rubbishing reports Douglas is dying

Michael Douglas has throat cancer and is currently receiving aggressive treatment for it. Recent days have seen a surge in rumors claiming the actor has changed his will as he is on his deathbed – not so, his rep says.

When the actor appeared on David Letterman in September, he seemed to have lost some weight but was generally in a pretty good shape, as we also informed you at the time.

Shortly after, he began to lose weight, which made him appear drawn and exhausted. This, in turn, prompted speculation that things were going from bad to worse.

These past few days saw countless rumors emerge online, according to which Michael didn’t have much to live, which is why he’d also decided to change his will – he was preparing to die.

“Wall Street” director Oliver Stone didn’t help with the situation, saying the star’s condition was “precarious” and couldn’t attend the Berlin premiere of his latest film.

People contacted Douglas’ rep to get a denial or confirmation of this and, luckily, it was the former: the actor is responding well to treatment and the doctors are pleased with his progress.

“Contrary to published reports, Douglas has not changed his will since undergoing treatment for throat cancer, and he isn’t saying goodbye to loved ones, his longtime publicist and friend Allen Burry tells People,” writes the mag.

“Michael is totally focused on his recovery,” Burry explains, adding that Michael is responding well to chemo for a walnut-sized tumor at the base of his tongue.

Of course Michael is looking drawn and exhausted, Burry adds, but that’s just part of the healing process, it’s to be expected for chemo to have this effect on him.

“It’s been very difficult. [Doctors] are very pleased with how he responded to treatment. They think he’s doing really well. He’s doing as well as can be expected,” Burry explains.

As for reports that Michael is making the final preparations before dying by changing his will, that too is bogus, the rep insists.

“Michael hasn’t changed his will recently, and he isn’t contemplating changing it,” says Burry.
