“I guarantee more bodies will fall,” Michael C. Hall says of season 5 of Showtime’s “Dexter”

Even if Showtime’s killer series didn’t win for Outstanding Drama or Outstand Actor in a Drama at this year’s Emmy Awards, fans needn’t be sad because E! Online caught up with Michael C. Hall and the rest of the cast and got some pretty major spoilers.

As it must be well-known by now, the fifth season of the ever-popular series debuts on September 26 and fans can hardly wait to see what Dexter comes up with to save himself from prison, and even find redemption as well.

Given how season 4 ended, with Rita’s sudden, bloody and shocking death (which literally made it the most surprising televised death ever), this level of anticipation is understandable.

It won’t be in vain either, actor Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter on the show, says for E!. While he remains tight-lipped about potential twists in the plot, the star says he can promise one thing: there will be more blood.

“I guarantee more bodies will fall,” Hall says. Indication of whose bodies we’re talking about comes from the show’s executive producer, Sara Colleton, who hints at the Dark Passenger.

“The Dark Passenger is going to be harder than ever to keep in his place. The Dark Passenger is going to come in unexpected ways when Dexter least wants it,” she explains.

As if the Dark Passenger, his wife’s murder and having to suddenly adjust to a life he never saw coming, in season 5 Dexter will also have to face Quinn’s suspicions and Elliot’s animosity (the neighbor who once tried to romance Rita).

“There will be some scenes between [Dexter and Elliot] and some tension. Along with interaction with Dexter, Elliot will have interaction with Quinn regarding the nature of the affair or dalliance or whatever it was that C.S. [Lee] gets Quinn wise to,” Hall says.

Julia Stiles is a newcomer to the show and she’ll presumably be playing some kind of love interest for Dexter. It’s not so much that she’ll become his lover, Colleton says, but that she’ll help him find traces of humanity in himself.

Speaking of love, Dexter’s sister Deb, who must have one of the worst romantic track records in the history of television, will probably be en route to finding her special someone this season.

To end this on an even happier note, fans should know that “Dexter” will not end with season 5 – and this comes straight from Michael C. Hall, though it’s still pending official confirmation.

“I don’t have the sense that there is any sense that this the end of the story as we’re telling it. I think signs point to us doing a sixth season, but it’s not official,” the actor says.
