He’s a cancer survivor himself and he knows only too well the kind of good he can do by simply showing up at an event. “Dexter’s” Michael C. Hall took part in a walk-a-thon at UCLA’s Lymphoma Program to raise funds for it.

The actor, dressed in a bright green shirt and wearing running shoes, joined hands with a cute teddy bear mascot for the marathon and posed for pictures for photographers.

He was clearly delighted to be there, seeing how, only a short while ago, he was waging his own cancer battled, the Daily Mail notes.

“He put in some laps with a giant teddy bear as he took part in the On Track for a Cure event which was raising funds for UCLA’s Lymphoma Program,” the tab writes.

The funds will go into research of the disease.

“It took place at the prestigious university’s Drake Stadium located in the heart of its main campus in the Westwood area of the city,” the Mail further writes.

It also has photos from the charity event, showing Hall walking hand in hand with the teddy bear – a most endearing picture if there ever was one.

“Activities included a track walk-a-thon in honor of patients, family members, caregivers, supporters and treatment professionals who have bravely worked to fight to cure lymphomas,” the same publication further reports.

When he was diagnosed with cancer, Michael was yet to turn 39, an age he always dreaded because it’s when his father also passed and he thought the same would happen to him as well.

Luckily, his cancer was diagnosed in time and he was able to seek treatment with the most satisfying results.

Moreover, he managed to do all this without letting the diagnosis interfere with his work on the hit series, “Dexter,” on which he plays the title character.

“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with an imminently treatable and curable condition. I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care,” he said at the time he made the heartbreaking announcement.
