Michael Bay may be known for his explosions and his work on the “Transformers” franchise but, with any luck, he’ll also be known for making quality films, such as “Pain and Gain.” It has just gotten a release date.

It will be out in theaters on April 26, 2013, and will go up against romcom “The Big Wedding” at the box office, Deadline confirms.

A passion project of Bay’s in which he invested lots of time and money, “Pain and Gain” is based on a true, ultra violent and somehow sick story – on a newspaper story on it, more like it.

It’s about two bodybuilders who get into kidnapping, murder and torture as a much easier way to make money, and how they will ultimately be fighting for their life.

“Pain and Gain” stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg as leads, with Ed Harris, Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Rob Corddry and Ken Jeong in supporting roles.
