Colorful, torrid, explosive and exploitative, new action flick holds lots of promise

So much has been written about Michael Bay’s passion project, “Pain & Gain,” that it was almost easy to forget that no trailer for it had been released. One is out now and it’s incredibly cool – but you don’t have to take my word for it.

Considering that Bay is often criticized for objectifying women onscreen, it’s perhaps ideal that he chose to make a movie about bodybuilders because, this way, we can forget about that conversation ever taking place.

Bay is most at ease where there’s physicality and action involved, so it’s probably safe to say “Pain & Gain” will be a hit with audiences.

Judging by the trailer above, it should be.

Starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as two bodybuilders sick of their mediocre life in Miami, who undertake a bold kidnapping plan to see themselves set for life, the film promises to be colorful, torrid, explosive, exploitative and awesome at the same time.

It will be out on April 26, 2013.

“I watched a lot of movies, I know what I’m doing.” Seriously, that says it all.
