A tape also exists, the director confirms

Movie critics have repeatedly thrashed director Michael Bay for his objectification of women, most obvious in the “Transformers 2” scene introducing Megan Fox, where she’s seen bent over a motorcycle, with her face hidden for at least a couple of seconds since the focus is on other parts of her body. A recent PageSix report has it that Bay might be taking the objectification off set as well, as he had Fox wash his car as part of the audition for the role.

What’s more, says the publication citing well-informed sources, there’s also a tape of the so-called “audition.” Insiders reveal that Bay did want Megan Fox for the part of Mikaela in “Transformers,” but he wasn’t sure whether she’d fare well in front of the camera and especially with the male target audience. So, he had her come over his house and wash his car, while he videotaped the entire thing to see whether casting her in the film would be a wise choice. Turns out it was.

“There’s a video of Megan Fox we want to see. When the sizzling star of ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ went to director Michael Bay’s house to audition for the part, ‘He made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her,’ reports Jason Solomons in Britain’s Guardian. ‘She said she didn’t know what had happened to that footage. When I put it to Bay himself, he looked suitably abashed – ‘Er, I don’t know where it is either’.” Come on.” PageSix writes.

Should this report be true, then it would certainly come to prove what Fox has been saying all along, namely that a Michael Bay film is not exactly the best occasion to show off one’s acting skills. Granted, critics point out, it was her launching platform – the best she could have ever asked for, for that matter – so perhaps she shouldn’t be talking smack about the movie and the director, no matter how much running she had to do for the sequel, “Revenge of the Fallen.”

Bay himself seems to be of the same opinion, calling Megan out for saying that she was not “allowed” to act in the second installment and basically telling her to grow up. “Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think: ‘OK Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.’ Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in ‘Transformers’. I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.” Michael Bay was saying in an interview over the weekend.
